Meet Wanda Hartmann at Moore's of Riverside

Wanda’s been sewing since the seventh grade and hasn't stopped since! She’s sewed most of her own clothes for many years. “What fun it was to sew for my daughter from the time she was born until she wanted store bought clothes like the other girls.” Wanda said. “Then came the school dances and it was Okay to have mom sew for her again.”
In the 1980’s, Wanda became interested in quilting. “Eleanor Burns was on the local public television station and she taught me the basics and beyond (I still watch!)” Remarks Wanda.
Wanda attended Fullerton Community College and earned a certificate in fashion design. She’s since developed interests in many types of sewing including quilting, heirloom, home decor, appliqué, wearables and more.
Wanda’s worked in the sewing machine industry for eleven years and has collected a few machines along the way. “My favorites are the embroidery machines.” She states. “The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity. I enjoy sharing my experience with my students but I have learned so much from them.” Pausing, Wanda reflects. “My motto is, ‘no matter how much you already know, there is always something new to learn’.”
At the Road to California in January of 2009, Wanda took a Cotton Theory class and liked it so much she became a certified Instructor.
Wanda is a California native and has been married for almost 34 years. Wanda says Her grown daughter has “finally” developed an interest in quilting and “we enjoy sewing together with her grandmother and going to the various sewing and quilting excursions.”
