Laurel has been teaching at Moore’s Mission Viejo store for almost 20 years. Laurel started out teaching a few afternoons a week. As her 2 children and Moore’s grew she added more classes and hours. Laurel teaches many of the classes offered in Mission Viejo, however, she concentrates mostly on the Pfaff Creative Vision, Quattro, 4D software and sergers. Over the years she has created many classes and club projects ranging from free-motion work to quilting to machine embroidery. She enjoys teaching people how to get the most from their machines and to recognize their own creativity.
Laurel began sewing with her Mother as a young girl focusing on garment construction. She was introduced to quilting in the early 1970s and designed and sold her quilts for several years. She developed her love of teaching and computers while working for the Los Angeles Dodgers for many years. After moving south to San Clemente she was able to combine that teaching experience with her passion for sewing at Moore’s. Laurel feels that Moore’s goal has always been to give the customers good instructions on their new machines and help to expand their sewing experiences.
Laurel has taken many hours of fashion design and construction at local colleges. She is a certified “Quilt In A Day” instructor and continues to take seminars and classes on sewing to increase her expertise so that she may pass that along to her students. She has also found that she continually learns from all her wonderful students.
She still lives in San Clemente with her husband of 26 years and two dogs.
