And now we can quilt with our embroidery machines!” Coleen started teaching sewing and embroidery in the ‘90’s for George’s father at a Moore’s location in Vancouver, Washington. Then for several years, she worked with George demonstrating machines at the Orange and LA County Fair. After that, an opportunity to teach and train with the Brother company opened for her. “I love demonstrating, teaching, and working with our wonderful guests, during classes, shows and dealer events. Shela Lambert has been sewing since she was 8 years old, starting in 4-H, making her first 9 patch quilt and making all of her own clothes by age 12. Shela worked at a fabric store at 16 and bought her first new sewing machine for $500. while making $1.25 per hour in 1972.… It was fun to make your own bell bottoms in the 70’s as you could make them 44 inches wide at the bottom if you’d like. Shela mostly sewed dresses formals and even made her own wedding dress at 19. Along with wedding dresses for several other brides when in her 20’s. She hand quilted many quilts for her trousseau when she got married and later quilted on her domestic machine quilts for all her children. She bought her first quilting machine in 2005 as a joint venture with her daughter and opened a quilt shop, Comfort Quilting, in Cedar City and later in St George UT. Shela has been a Handi Quilter Territory Sales manager since 2011 and It’s her Dream job! She has found many friends that are retailers or quilters from all over the Southwestern 8 states that she travels for HQ. She really loves her job! Where else can you get paid to work at quilt shows and visit (and shop) at quilt shops? The main focus is to not spend more than you make, as there are always must haves to go into a stash, that may not be used until retirement. Shela enjoys making quilts for her 17 grandkids and loves to add photos to personalize them. Shela owns an Amara with Pro-Stitcher as that is the biggest machine she could get in her sewing room with all the other machines there are in there. You all know how that is right?
Mary started sewing at the age of 12, when her mother allowed her to sew on her basic domestic sewing machine. Mary quickly figured out how to put things together and loved creating. Over 40 years ago, Mary made her first quilt using left over scraps from garment sewing, and backed it with a purchased blanket.… Mary started making quilts, but did not like finishing them on her domestic sewing machine. When she saw the HQ Sixteen, she knew it was for her. Once the Pro-Stitcher came out, Mary added it to her machine and now loves finishing her quilts using Pro-Stitcher and other free motion techniques. Mary has taught different aspects of sewing for over 20 years and is now very excited to concentrate on quilting and being an educator for Handi Quilter. Mary lives in Southern California with her husband Roger. She has 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren and she loves spending time with them.

What will be Demonstrated
- Plus Many More!
My name is Sherry Miller, I have been sewing ever since I can remember. I always wanted to stand out with new trends and styles and the only way to do that was to create my own twist on existing patterns. I was always making clothing and home-dec items for myself and family. When I was old enough I worked in a quilting store and that opened up a whole new world for me. I fell in love with fabric, threads and patterns. I began writing patterns for purses and quilts and soon after started teaching classes in stores and for quilt guilds. The best part of my job is when I can inspire someone to find the joy in sewing as much as I do.
