Flaptastic Bag, Huntington Beach, 2 Sessions + Pre Class Meeting, $

Students will sew a very handy crossbody/shoulder bag that has two main compartments, 2 flaps, a top zipper and 2 zipper pockets, as well as credit card slots. This will most likely become a favorite everyday bag to carry because its size is approximately 12” wide, 9” tall, 5” deep with two compartments and secure zipper pockets. Students will learn to use foam stabilizer to make a sturdy bag. Students will insert invisible magnet closure as well as pocket zippers and a top zipper that is hidden under the main flap. Students will have the opportunity to decorate their main flap with embroidery or other décor prior to class if they desire. Students will learn how to make a multiple credit card pocket to be sewn into the outside covered pocket of the bag, and will attach an exterior pocket and flap under the main flap on the main bag. We will install basic strap hardware and make an adjustable strap to carry this bag across the body. We will be topstitching to enhance the outside of the bag.
Pre Class Meeting: Thursday, September 6, 4p – 5p
Class Meets: Saturday, September 15 and Friday, September 28, 10a – 4p each day
Prerequisite: This is an advanced sewing class. Students must be able to accurately cut and label all pattern pieces prior to coming to class. I also need students to attend the pre-class meeting to go over the items that need to be completed before the first sewing class session. Students need to be familiar with their machines. Machines should be able to sew through 2 layers of foam stabilizer along with 2 layers of fabric. A walking foot for students’ machines is very desirable as is a zipper foot.
