Learn how your sewing machine can do more for you!
In this 6 part series we will be learning how to use a plethora of different accessory feet to help you master tricky techniques and get professional results. Accessory feet help you to construct, decorate and finish your garment, home decor, craft and quilting projects. You will learn how to use feet to help you conquer zippers, piping, pintucks, beading, specialty materials, bias binding, fringe, hemming, gathering, decorative stitches, quilt piecing, free-motion quilting, and much Moore!
Each class will focus on 3-4 different accessory feet and the techniques they allow you to accomplish. You can take the classes in any order! All machine brands are welcome!
Prerequisite: Basic operation of your machine: you can wind a bobbin, thread machine, navigate stitches and change basic settings i.e. stitch length and width.
Class 2: Quilting
- ¼” Quilting Foot with Guide
- Stitch in the Ditch Foot
- Quilting Guide
- Walking Foot
Commonly used in quilting these feet make piecing and quilting your quilt accurate and simple. Not a quilter? These feet can also be used for understitching facing, topstitching, hidden stitching and for sewing with fabrics that can creep or stretch like velvet, corduroy and lycra.
The ¼” quilting foot helps you get perfect quarter inch seams everytime when piecing, but you can also use it to help you get perfectly spaced topstitching on your garment or home decor project. The stitch in the ditch foot not only helps you to get perfectly placed hidden quilting on your quilt but can also help you achieve perfect understitching on facing for garments and craft projects. Use the quilting guide to help you sew perfect parallel lines on any project or help you achieve perfect seam allowance every time. The walking foot gives you an extra set of feed dogs on top of your fabric to help you accurately sew multiple layers of fabric and other tricky to sew fabrics like lycra and velvet.
