This is a beginning sewing class for ages 10 – 18. Students will learn about their own sewing machines – how to thread them, adjust tension, change stitches, change needles, backstitch! Using fabric instructor provides, they’ll make a “burrito style pillowcase.” Students will practice straight stitching, backstitch or locking stitch, pivoting. They will learn how to sew a French seam and learn some safety measures of sewing such as how to use or not use pins, scissors, irons and organization of supplies. We will provide folders and handouts for practice during down time, and to keep young sewists busy while helping individuals!
Prerequsite: Students should know a little about their own sewing machines and should bring their sewing machine manuals with them.
