Our Featured Partner: Flying Parrot Quilts

Sylvia Schaefer, owner of Flying Parrot Quilts, is an author, teacher, pattern designer, and award-winning quilter. She holds a PhD in marine science, and her background in science often inspires her quilt designs, both directly and indirectly. Her quilts and patterns have been published in magazines both online and in print, and her work has won awards regionally and nationally, including ribbons at Pacific International Quilt Festival, the American Quilter’s Society show in Paducah, and MQX, among others.

In 2017, she was awarded the second annual Craftsy Quilt Designer Fellowship, allowing her to start her own line of printed patterns sold in quilt shops around the world. She has appeared on camera in Fresh Quilting and Patchwork Nation. She particularly enjoys helping quilters find the confidence to begin designing their own quilts, and her book, The Quilter’s Negative Space Handbook, is a guide to designing modern quilts using traditional quilt blocks.

Sew Fun Club is In-Store and Virtual

Join us at each Moore’s location for an in-person Sew Fun Club as well as a virtual presentation. Both the in-person and virtual presentations are free to all. We host a show-and-tell session where attendees can inspire us all with the projects they’ve made, and have a chance to win a $20 Moore’s Gift Card – those watching the virtual presentation can also participate by posting photos of your projects in the comments! Sew Fun Club products are brought to you at exclusive club discount pricing that will be available only during the week of SFC and for a limited time after the virtual presentation. What is Sew Fun Club?

We here at Moore’s Sewing Center are committed to make you the very best sewer, quilter, and embroiderer you can be! So, for our Sew Fun Club (SFC) members, each month we collaborate with different creative, unique and inspiring companies, in order to keep you stitching. A Sew Fun Club gathering is held at each of our five Moore’s locations, and is chock full of samples, inspiration, and helpful tips and tools you can utilize for your upcoming projects. The reason so many guests rave about Sew Fun Club is plain and simple: each seminar is filled with creativity, fun, and an overall sense of comradery and support among fellow sewers and crafters. SFC gives you an opportunity to meet and connect with people to share the same love for all things sewing!
