This whimsical design features a large checkered pumpkin, a smaller polka dot pumpkin, a curious little mouse, and a vibrant flower, all perfectly arranged with swirling leaves. Each piece is laser cut, pre-fused, and ready to iron in place, making it easy to add seasonal personality to quilts, pillows, or wall hangings. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or just starting out, this kit simplifies the process of creating detailed, eye-catching appliqué with a playful autumn flair.
Usage Instructions:
Precut, pre-fused appliqué makes any project quick and easy.
Simply peel off the release paper, iron and sew!
Heat n Bond Lite is used for the fusible. Preheat iron to medium heat, no steam. Your appliqué requires some assembly before adhering to the project. Take a Teflon sheet or silicone mat (such as this mat from Quilters Select mat or this from The Gypsy Quilter) and lay over the finished drawing, pinning it securely so it does not slip. Dashed lines will indicate the overlap pieces. Start by tacking first with the tip of your iron, it allows you to move the pieces much easier if need be. The beauty of using the Teflon sheet is that it allows you to iron and re-iron on it many times and your piece will pull off, leaving the bonding on the fabric. The fusible should take about 3–6 seconds to adhere. If fusing an appliqué with batting, you may need a shot of steam to activate the fusible. Once your pieces are in place, run iron over the entire appliqué. Let cool completely and pull off the sheet. Place on project you are working on and iron in place.
When you receive multiple pieces cut from the same fabric, peel backing off and then snip the pieces apart.
If you quilted your piece first, you will not need a stabilizer. If not, you will need one and I like the Bosal perforated stabilizer, as it does not make the project stiff. Cut a piece a bit larger than your appliqué and place directly under the piece you are appliquéing onto and pin in place. Draw in detail lines on your appliqué using either a water-soluble quilter’s pen or a chalk pencil. There are many stitches that can be used in doing an appliqué. I like to use the machine satin, feather or blanket stitches. If you choose not to machine stitch, you can do a primitive whipstitch around the pieces. If you used a stabilizer, tear excess off. Detail per instructions listed on the appliqué.
