Brother Dynamic Walking Foot Set (SA101)

Whenever you want to be assured that your top layer of fabric and bottom layer of fabric are evenly sewn, you need a walking foot. I must admit that Brother’s new Dynamic Walking Foot SA-101 is a winner.

As a garment sewer, I always used a walking foot to match plaid fabrics or to sew fabric that has a nap, like velvet or corduroy.  I was pleasantly surprised when Brother introduced the Dynamic 7mm Walking Foot to fit my Luminaire and smaller Brother machines.  A smaller walking foot gives you increased visibility with fine fabrics and is easier to manage with some walking foot quilting projects with tight turns.   Whether you want to sew on binding, channel quilt fabric or make a baby quilt with stretchy fabrics like Shannon, you will need a walking foot to handle the layers.

Brother’s SA101 Dynamic Walking Foot comes with 2 snap on soles (open toe and closed toe) and a handy screwdriver. Since it is a low shank walking foot, you will need to locate the S adapter in your accessory box if you have a high shank machine like I do. Simply attach the S adapter to your presser foot bar, then attach the walking foot to the adapter and place the fork of the arm on the needle bar. Don’t worry, instructions are included if this sounds confusing. A nice addition to the Walking Foot is an optional quilting bar. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Quilting Bar attachment for my Dual Feed Foot, SA206, fits the 7mm Dynamic Walking foot.
